Everywhere you turn, there are people striving to live their dreams and their best lives. Some even turn to God, looking for some guidance on how they can accomplish their goals, and experience a better way of life. The answer is in this week’s Wisdom Wednesday lesson, and is much simpler than you might think.

In Proverbs 16:9 of the King James Version of the Holy Bible, the scripture reads:
“A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.” A quick thumb through the dictionary reveals that to devise means to plan or invent by careful thought. That leads us to gather the understanding that each of us chooses our what, while God handles the how of it all. I don’t know about you, but that gets me excited! All you have to do is choose what you want to do with your life. Then, dedicate that thing to God, and he will make it successful.

If you want to be a performing artist, a doctor, lawyer, athlete, it doesn’t matter. Have fun! Just make sure that God is at the forefront of whatever you do. You don’t have to worry about the how at all. Psalm 119:133 says, “Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.” As long as we study God’s word, and meditate on it every day, we can rest assured that our steps are ordered by God, and that whatever path we are on, we are headed in a prosperous direction.
