We live in a world where it’s hard to trust the word of another person. People make promises that they don’t keep, others are deceitful, and it’s difficult to believe someone’s word. This week’s Wisdom Wednesday lesson is all about letting our guard down with God. God is the one that we can trust with all of our hearts, because his word is true.

The scripture reading is from Proverbs 30:5, which reads “Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.”

Webster’s Dictionary defines the word pure as “unmixed, with any matter, untainted, free from moral fault or guilt, ritually clean. Because God’s word is pure, we can depend on him in ways that we could never depend on another person. I have learned, through a series of experiences, that I can relax and trust God. I can hold him at his word. In fact, he wants us to do that. God wants us to try him. His word says, “Oh taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.” (Psalms 34:8)
